Orange Health Solutions, a healthcare services company keeping pace with a rapidly changing industry, has partnered with the University of North Florida’s (UNF) Division of Continuing Education and Florida’s WorkSource program, to staff key positions.
Orange Health Solutions operates a practice support center that coordinates care for Medicare ACO patients in 11 primary care practices in Northeast Florida in addition to 13 practices in the Ocala area. It is also launching a major care coordination project with a Long Island, N.Y., physicians group, Heritage Northeast Medical Management, in mid-July. Most of these patients are treated by physicians who have volunteered to participate in the early waves of Accountable Care Organizations overseen by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. ACOs are built on the incentive of value over volume, and have been generating interest and momentum at both the federal government and commercial level.
Orange Health’s ACO business model provides for “patient advocates” and health coaches who act as extensions of the practice care teams. These advocates, many with clinical certifications, social services and primary care support skills, generate encounters with Medicare patients to close care gaps and coordinate care. These patients have histories of multiple hospitalizations and treatment plans for chronic conditions such as congestive heart failure, COPD and diabetes, and will benefit from compassionate touchpoints aimed at care compliance.
“Healthcare is demanding new types of healthcare roles, both clinical and non-clinical, to meet the needs of innovative models like Orange Health’s outsourced care extender teams and practice support center,” said Nicole Bradberry, President and COO of Orange Health Solutions. “We have been lucky to find great partners like UNF and WorkSource to help us recruit, train and hire these new roles. Employees who are empathetic and consumer-focused are necessary to be successful in the new healthcare models.”
Orange Health is providing outsourced administrative services to Heritage to close care and wellness gaps, conduct health risk assessments and coordinate scheduling for its Medicare Advantage and ACO patients. UNF, known for its health-care administration and public health programs, and WorkSource have partnered with Orange Health in its staffing strategies.
“We are thrilled to partner with Orange Health to provide this opportunity for career growth and enhancement,” said Robert Wood, dean of UNF Division of Continuing Education. “Our commitment to lifelong learning, workforce development and enrichment experiences is more than a statement: It is our mission – one person, one organization at a time.”
WorkSource is a publically funded agency that provides workforce services to six counties on Florida’s First Coast. Orange Health partnered with WorkSource because of its goal to “exceed employers’ requirements for the jobs of today and the future.”
Candace Moody, Marketing VP at WorkSource, said: “Healthcare has always been an important sector in Northeast Florida, providing high-wage jobs and challenging career paths for workers. These new positions are great examples of how the industry continues to evolve and create new opportunities for employment.”
