Franklin Street announces the first Florida location of Brixx Wood Fired Pizza to be located in the 220 Riverside development in Jacksonville. Brixx, represented by Franklin Street, is a franchise concept based in Charlotte, North Carolina with 31 restaurants throughout the Southeast.
Carrie Smith, regional managing partner and Katy Figg, associate of retail leasing at Franklin Street’s Jacksonville office, teamed up to help the growing retailer develop a strategy to enter Jacksonville and launch the initial store location. The Brixx Wood Fired Pizza will be located near Sbraga & Company and Hob Nob on the first floor of the 220 Riverside luxury apartments on Riverside Avenue in the heart of Brooklyn. The company signed a 10-year lease this week.
The concept will include 3,714 square feet inside with a 1,400-square-foot outdoor patio. The location will feature wood fired pizzas, salads, pasta and sandwiches alongside a wide range of dietary options from vegetarian to vegan to gluten-free. Founders of the concept believe “everyone should be able to enjoy a night out for pizza!” Brixx Wood Fired Pizza is known for its high-quality menu paired with wine and craft beer in a casual but upscale atmosphere. Juna Partners, LLC is the franchisee and Lora Ramsey is the principal representing Florida’s first Brixx location.
“We knew right away the 220 Riverside development was the perfect location to introduce Brixx to Jacksonville,” said Ramsey. “The location provides us an opportunity to embrace the neighboring businesses and residents and we are excited to be a part of the Riverside growth and revitalization of Brooklyn.”
Brixx hired Franklin Street to help them understand the Northeast Florida market and find the ideal location to introduce the concept. The company is focused on positioning itself in neighborhoods that support a strong lunch and dinner business seven days a week along with a proven late-night dining customer base. Brixx honed in on 220 Riverside and Brooklyn because of its growing restaurant scene, expanding residential population that consists primarily of working professionals, and the high daytime traffic.
“There can be a variety of issues that come with opening a location in a mixed-use urban environment that you typically don’t find in suburban malls and shopping centers,” Smith said. “We were able to navigate through parking and construction-related issues to get Brixx into the most ideal location.” Smith continues, “Brixx coming to Jacksonville proves that this city has strong fundamentals and is a market national retailers are seeking out for new concepts and expansions.”
Brixx is performing a build-out with the owners and developers of 220 Riverside. The location is set to open in summer 2016.
