Visit Jacksonville Awarded International Accreditation

visit jaxDestination Marketing Association International (DMAI) has approved Visit Jacksonville for accreditation as part of their Destination Marketing Accreditation Program (DMAP). This prestigious honor recognizes Convention and Visitors Bureaus (CVB) and Destination Marketing Organizations (DMO) that meet the highest level of quality and performance standards within the industry. More than 2,000 destination marketing organizations exist worldwide, and Visit Jacksonville is now one of only 208 that are DMAI accredited.

“It truly is an honor within the tourism industry to be part of such a select group, an honor made possible by the hard work of the staff and board of Visit Jacksonville,” said Paul Astleford, President and CEO of Visit Jacksonville. “This accreditation is validation that we have one of the best qualified organizations in the world to accomplish our mission, which is to promote, sale and market Jacksonville as a premier destination to visit for leisure travel, business meetings, and conventions, all of which create a huge economic contribution to our community.”

Since its inception in January 2007, the accreditation program requires a DMO to successfully comply with a multitude of mandatory and voluntary standards related to the management and marketing of a destination including governance, finance, human resources, sales, communications, destination development and research.

“The accreditation requires DMOs like Visit Jacksonville to truly evaluate and define not only their policies and procedures, but also determine their guiding principles and solidify their importance to their communities in all they do,” said Jack Wert, DMAP Board Chair.

“This accreditation process was thorough and rigorous,” said Bill Prescott, Chairman of the Visit Jacksonville Board. “In many areas we met the standards required, in others areas we updated our policies and procedures to meet the standards set by DMAI. While getting the accreditation is great news, it is equally great to know that we are among the most efficient and effective DMOs in our industry.”

Other DMAI certified DMOs and CVBs in Florida include Visit Florida, The Beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel Island, Naples, Marco Island and The Everglades, St. Augustine, Ponte Vedra & the Beaches, and Amelia Island. For more information, you can visit
