Cannons sit a half game out of the playoff race after 4 straight wins
Coming off a pair of road wins in North Carolina, which boosted the Jacksonville Cannons American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL) Power Ranking to #6 out of 25, the Cannons prepared to host the new divisional first place team in another must-win game. This past Saturday, the Jacksonville Cannons faced off against the Atlanta Hustle (Power Ranking #5) for the third time this season. A critical win, by a margin of 29-27, knocked Atlanta out of first place in the division and has kept the Cannons in control of their playoff destiny. The Cannons now sit only one game out of first place and a half game out of the playoffs, fighting for the second spot in the South Division, behind the Raleigh Flyers and the Atlanta Hustle. As luck would have it, the Cannons will enjoy a bye this weekend before visiting none other than the Atlanta on July 4th – a game which will be live on ESPN3 (7pm EDT). It will likely be this game, keeping with Jacksonville’s rich Florida/Georgia rivalry, that decides who will secure the second and final playoff spot in the AUDL South.
If the Cannons return victorious, only Nashville, in true upset fashion, would be able to prevent the Cannons from reaching the playoffs. It happened before, early in the season, on their turf. This time the Nashville NightWatch journey down to Jacksonville for the final home game of the (regular) season on July 11th at Stanton College Prep (6pm EDT).
Join the Cannons on July 11th at Stanton College Prep as they hope to close out the regular season in style, securing a playoff spot. Kids three and under are FREE, kids ten and under are $5 and General Admission is $10. Tic Tic BOOM!
