Tech Coast Conference could become signature event

tech coast conferenceThe inaugural Tech Coast Conference drew almost 500 attendees to Florida State College at Jacksonville’s Advanced Technology Center on Aug. 15.

The day-long event featured workshops and presentations by leading Northeast Florida’s leading IT professionals, including executives from some of the area’s largest companies.

“It was our first, premiere IT signature event,” senior project manager Frank Eaton said. “Some of the planners, and movers and shakers of the city of Jacksonville wanted to see it would stick if we threw it on the wall, and it was so successful that they want it on a bigger scale.”

Organized by FSCJ and the JAX Chamber IT Council, the Tech Coast Conference was designed to showcase local IT talent and cover emerging trends. “We brought the people that make decisions in our industry and made them available to anybody and everybody,” said Eaton, CEO of Frank B2B Communications.

The event also reached its limit of 20 table sponsors as companies like staffing firms sought to get in front of the attendees. “It was a huge undertaking. We ended up getting more vendors than anticipated,” Eaton said.

Organizers may seek more space next year so that the event can accommodate larger crowds.

“We filled every seat, every table up until the closing,” Eaton said. “We set the bar pretty high for next year’s event.”
