Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront welcomes new General Manager

Gino CaliendoHyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront has welcomed Gino Caliendo as general manager. Caliendo has more than 33 years of experience in the hotel industry, all with Hyatt, and he most recently served as the general manager for six years at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa in San Antonio, Texas.

Caliendo will oversee all aspects of hotel operations. As the general manager for the region’s largest convention hotel, he will partner with convention, tourism and development officials to attract more business to the area.  Of special focus for Caliendo will be the hotel’s ongoing initiatives to support downtown economic development, positioning the city for future growth. Caliendo is also an active supporter of “Hyatt Thrive,” the company’s global corporate responsibility initiative, and he has been impressed by, and is anxious to be a part of, the number of projects that give back to the local community and residents that the Jacksonville team has supported over the years.

“It’s an exciting time to be joining the Jacksonville team. After spending more than 14 years of my Hyatt career in Florida, and with family nearby, it’s great to be back,” said Caliendo. “I look forward to contributing as an active member of this community during this time of entrepreneurial spirit and economic development.”

Prior to Hill Country, Caliendo served as general manager for the Hyatt Regency Miami, Hyatt Regency Coral Gables and Hyatt Regency Deerfield. Caliendo also held various food and beverage positions including opening the resort on Grand Cayman, Grand Hyatt Tampa, Los Angeles and New Orleans.

Caliendo grew up in Pittsburgh, Pa. and studied at Duquesne University. He will be joined in Jacksonville by his wife of 23 years, Kyla, and daughter, Gabriella.
