iStart Jax teams with U.S. Small Business Administration for National Small Business Week 2014

National Small Business Week, the annual event hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration to recognize the nation’s top small businesses, entrepreneurs, small business advocates and champions, kicks off its activities May 12 in San Francisco. The celebrations will continue through May 16 with similar events in Kansas City, May 13; Boston, May 15; and Washington, D.C., May 15-16.

This year, 40 non-profit and community partners have teamed with the SBA to promote National Small Business Week. iStart Jax along with other organizations such as Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council, America’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and others are co-sponsoring the events.

Activities in all four cities will feature national-level speakers, workshops, panels of experts covering a variety of entrepreneurial topics, and business matchmaking opportunities. The national celebrations will culminate with the presentation of the National Small Business Person of the Year award in Washington. D.C., on May 16.

Marice Hague, Director for Community Outreach for iStart Jax, said, “We are excited about the opportunity to help small businesses and support initiatives to reach out to early-stage entrepreneurs and startups through iStart Jax. The entrepreneurial community can benefit from the number of programs that are being streamed online and that are available for online participation.”

This year’s online events will include educational webinars scheduled throughout the week, as well as two live-streamed panel discussions from New York City on Wednesday, May 14. Live-streamed and online webinars are accessible at
