Florida 8(a) Alliance to hold third annual federal contracting conference May 27 &28

fl 8 a 2014The Florida 8(a) Alliance wants to help companies take their businesses to the next level by expanding their horizons at the organization’s upcoming annual federal contracting conference.

Attendees of the May 27-28 networking and training event at the Buena Vista Palace Hotel in Orlando will learn the latest news, trends and best practices in government contracting practicing. The agenda includes panel discussions by representatives of large prime contractors and successful small businesses, as well as a round-table conversation with officials from government agencies.

The Florida 8(a) Alliance is also providing opportunities for attendees to meet with small-business contracting representatives from government agencies and large prime contractors.

  • Government agencies that have been invited to send representatives include: the Army, Navy, Air Force, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Special Operations Command, Coast Guard and Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Large prime contractors that have been invited to send representatives include: Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Harris Corp. and Northrup Grumman Corp.
  • Representatives from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s North Florida and South Florida offices will be in attendance.

Educational seminars will cover topics such as marketing, proposal writing, accessing capital, contracting law and doing business with commercial entities.

The Florida 8(a) Alliance’s mission is to strengthen, train, educate and promote 8(a) and other small businesses in Florida. Its member businesses include those that are certified as 8(a) businesses, Veteran-Owned Businesses; Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses; Women-Owned Small Businesses.

All small businesses and the general public are welcome to attend.

Last year’s Florida 8(a) Alliance Conference drew more than 200 attendees and organizers of the May event expect an even larger turnout this year.
