JAX Chamber Board of Directors vote to support policies and programs that will lead to JAXPORT harbor deepening

JAX ChamberToday, the JAX Chamber Board of Directors voted to support policies and programs that will lead to JAXPORT harbor deepening. The JAX Chamber has also promised to work with leaders and organizations supporting harbor deepening while holding public and elected officials accountable for their advocacy and votes.

“I applaud Rep. Corrine Brown for sponsoring an amendment to include JAXPORT harbor deepening in the the Water Resources and Reform Development Act,” said JAX Chamber Chairman Greg Smith. “The continued and future growth of Northeast Florida will be greatly affected if we are unable to deepen the channel and harbor of JAXPORT.”

The Port of Jacksonville is an economic engine for job creation in the first coast region. The ripple effect from the cargo and cruise business is substantial, supporting 65,000 jobs across the region and generating a total of $19 billion in annual economic impact.

“The Board of Directors of the JAX Chamber and I are dedicated to making JAXPORT harbor deepening a reality,” said JAX Chamber President and CEO Daniel Davis. “Now is the time to stand united and fight for this important economic driver in our community.”
