Northeast Florida Builders Association names Matt Wilford Builders Care Executive Director

Builders Care Executive Director Matt WilfordThe Northeast Florida Builders Association (NEFBA) announces Matt Wilford as the new Executive Director of Builders Care, the association’s charitable arm.

“Matt is uniquely qualified to advance the mission of Builders Care,” said Founding Executive Director Bill Wilson. “He has volunteered on many Builders Care projects over the years. In addition to having exemplary skills and experience, we hired Matt because of his heart. It is very rare to find a builder who is led by a mission in life.”

Wilford is deeply rooted in the construction industry and the Northeast Florida community. A nearly lifelong resident of Jacksonville, he has grown up surrounded by the homebuilding business. His father is ICI Homes Division President Don Wilford, who Matt Wilford calls a “huge inspiration in his life.”

Prior to joining Builders Care, Matt Wilford served as a construction manager for Lennar Jacksonville. Before joining Lennar, Wilford spent three years in New Orleans doing post-Katrina work after being called to the area as a result of a church mission trip. He also worked with ICI Homes for four years.

NEFBA founded Builders Care in October 2001. Since then, the non-profit community based construction organization has provided home and building improvements to more than a thousand people. With the assistance of volunteer home builders and real estate agents, the organization helps those who are less fortunate and cannot afford construction services by traditional means. The ultimate goal of Builders Care is to heal substandard housing.

“I am honored and humbled to be in this position, and I get to do what I love, which is to help people,” Wilford said. “Our goal is to do whatever we can do to bring the glory of Builders Care back to the community and help those who need assistance.”
