Community First Credit Union Sparking Innovation

One Spark and Community First Credit Union form three-year partnership

Community First Credit Union of Florida, a state-chartered credit union serving more than 106,000 members on the First Coast, is teaming up with One Spark, the world’s first crowdfunding festival. Community First has signed a major 3-year partnership agreement with One Spark to provide support for the festival in addition to events aimed at fostering creativity and innovation throughout the year. The One Spark festival is scheduled to be held in downtown Jacksonville April 17-21 and will feature creators in the arts, sciences and technology with an opportunity to receive a portion of the $250,000 crowdfund based on public vote.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Community First Credit Union, an organization that is known for innovation and its support of the community,” said Elton Rivas, co-founder and executive director of One Spark. “Their support will be instrumental during this inaugural year, but Community First has recognized that One Spark will be a game-changer for Jacksonville for years to come by partnering with us for three years.”

Part of Community First’s sponsorship agreement includes naming rights to the Pitch Decks at the 2013 festival. The Community First Pitch Decks, which will be located in Hemming Plaza and Main Street Park, will be platforms for creators to share information about their projects with the general public during the event.

“Community First is focused on innovation and continuous improvement within the Northeast Florida community,” said John Hirabayashi, president and CEO of Community First. “Our long term partnership with One Spark allows us to continue our support of ideas and their creators to help make the First Coast an even better and stronger community.”

As a part of the ongoing partnership, Community First will sponsor additional One Spark events throughout 2013, 2014 and 2015. These events will feature a similar style to the festival’s pitch decks, but will be held in areas throughout Northeast Florida with the goal of showcasing local entrepreneurs and their innovations year-round.
