City recognized for JaxReady Mobile Application

The City of Jacksonville’s Information Technologies Division (ITD) is receiving an Honorable Mention from Government Computer News (GCN) for “Outstanding Information Technology Achievement in Government.” The award recognizes the city’s JaxReady mobile application. Staff will be recognized at the 2012 GCN Awards Gala on Oct. 24 in McLean, Va.

The JaxReady mobile application was one of 10 GCN Honorable Mentions selected from more than 130 nominations. Winners were selected based on the degree to which the projects have improved the agency’s ability to operate more efficiently or serve the public more effectively.

The JaxReady Mobile application was launched in May, providing Jacksonville residents with the ability to monitor weather threats and plan for evacuations in the event of a natural disaster. The app also displays the latest Emergency Operations Center threat levels, weather reports and wildfire dangers. JaxReady was created by ITD and emergency response teams at no additional cost to the taxpayer through the use of existing resources.

The mobile application is available on both iPhone and Android devices through the App Store and Google Play. Learn more about JaxReady by clicking here.
