JAX Chamber hosts inaugural #ilovejax tour, visits NAS JAX and the FRCSE

Because the #ilovejax campaign is about economic development, the inaugural #ilovejax day included a tour of the region’s largest industrial employer, Fleet Readiness Center Southeast (FRCSE) and Naval Air Station Jacksonville (NAS JAX).

NAS JAX employs 23,200 and contributes about $1.2 billion annually from payroll to our local economy. A recent recipient of the JAXUSA Partnership Industry Leadership Award, FRCSE is the largest tenant command at NAS Jacksonville and the largest industrial employer in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. With a workforce of 4,600 military, civil service and contract personnel, FRCSE provides aviation maintenance solutions in support of the warfighting customer by performing in-depth overhaul, repair and modification of aircraft, engines and aeronautical components.

The FRCSE workforce incorporates innovative technologies to keep legacy aircraft flying until the next generation of replacement aircraft are delivered to the fleet.

To implement and continue developing innovative technologies, strong skills in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) are required. FRCSE demonstrates commitment to cultivating skills locally by:

  • Offering lab-based learning experiences for fifth graders
  • Judging science fairs
  • Inviting high school students to shadow engineers
  • Arranging mentors for individual students
  • Visiting schools and introducing students to STEM careers
  • Internships for college students

Residents can join the conversation on Twitter by using the “hashtag I love JAX” or posting pictures and comments on the #ilovejax Facebook page: For more information on other way to become involved, call 904-366-6641.
