First Coast Worksite Wellness Council hosting a series of workshops on diabetes

Diabetes has a major impact on businesses. The First Coast Worksite Wellness Council is hosting a series of workshops on diabetes and how employers can help their workforce manage the disease. In 2010, 10.4% of all adults in Florida were told they have diabetes. In Duval County, the rate is 11.4%. In 2007, direct and indirect costs of diabetes total nearly $174 billion a year which includes increased medical expenses, absenteeism and lost productivity. The objective of the series is to educate employers on the impact of diabetes on health care and work productivity and to provide a strategy to improve quality of care and overall costs through benefit design.

Session 1 is July 24th 8am-10am St. Vincent’s Conference Center.
Session 2 is August 7th 8am-10am UF & Shands
Session 3 is August 21st 8am-10am Baptist Health.

The series is $50 for members $75 for non-members.
