Volunteers needed for the 17th Annual St. Johns River Celebration

The 17th Annual St. Johns River Celebration cleanup event on Saturday, March 17 is in need of volunteers. Participants will spend the morning collecting litter and debris from more than 20 pre-selected riverfront and inland sites around the city.

Volunteer cleanup is from 8-11 a.m. (specific times vary by locations—see below for more details) followed by a volunteer appreciation event from noon-2 p.m. at the Riverside Arts Market.

Volunteers will be provided with trash bags, gloves and tickets at the locations listed below. Tickets may be redeemed for refreshments and t-shirts, while supplies last, at an appreciation event at Riverside Arts Market following the cleanup.

Students can receive community service certificates for their participation. Participants must be over 18 years of age or accompanied by an adult. Advance registration is not required. Register at the cleanup site.

Urban 8 – 11 a.m.

Arlington/Beaches 8 – 11 a.m. *Exception: Ft Caroline

o All Wet Sports/Beach Boulevard Boat Ramp, 8508 Beach Blvd. – 32216. A personal kayak, canoe or boat is required for this site. Participants use water vessels at their own risk. This site is not recommended for children.

o Ft. Caroline National Memorial, 12713 Fort Caroline Road – 32225 *Exception: Cleanup from 9 – 11 a.m.

o Kathryn Abbey Hanna Park, 500 Wonderwood Road – 32233. Volunteers must arrive by 9:30 a.m. to participate

o Intracoastal Waterway Boat Ramp, 2510 2nd Avenue North – 32250. This site is not recommended for children.

o Beach Blvd. at the Ocean, 2 Oceanfront N. – 32250. Near the lifeguard station

Naval Station Mayport, Jetties Pavilion # 3, 8 – 11 a.m. Volunteers must have base access or arrange for base access.

o Yacht Basin Park, 2941 St. Johns Ave. – 32205. Litter cleanup and beautification project at this site.
