JAX Chamber joins First Wednesday Art Walk

The JAX Chamber is pleased to announce it will join First Wednesday Art Walk as an official stop beginning this Wednesday, Nov. 2, when the art walk takes place from 5 to 9 p.m.

The Chamber, located at 3 Independent Drive, partnered with Jen Jones Art Consulting to exhibit the work of international artist Richard Riverin. The Chamber will also showcase the art of architecture featuring architects from Halback Design Group and Content Design Group.

“The Chamber headquarters serves as Downtown’s Front Door, and it is only fitting that we participate in this important and vibrant community event that has played a significant role in revitalizing Downtown Jacksonville,” said JAX Chamber Vice President of Operations Anna Valent.

Riverin, an award-winning painter, chemist and noteworthy science fiction author, will showcase his original paintings at the Chamber. Riverin is one of few artists who has developed his own personal and unique style and technique, which includes chemically formulating his own paint to produce a very heavy, frosting-like texture. In addition to Jacksonville, Riverin has exhibited works at numerous solo and group showings in Montreal, Palm Beach, Naples, Washington, DC, Greensboro, New York and abroad as well as winning ‘Artist of the Year’ at Art Expo New York in 2010.

“We are so excited to unveil our new annex gallery at the JAX Chamber,” said Jennifer Jones, proprietor of Jen Jones Art Consulting. “As seen with the First Wednesday Art Walk, art makes a city alive and is one of its most important fingerprints. We believe our new gallery at the Chamber will inspire and lend beauty to its surroundings.”

Lauren Fincham, a new Chamber member and award-winning folk songstress who has played alongside John Mayer, The 10,000 Maniacs and Gamble Rogers to name just a few, will be the featured live musical guest. Fresh from the recording of her third CD, Fincham’s music can be heard on Pandora and Sirius XM. Fellow Chamber member, Bold City Brewery, is contributing hand-crafted, locally made beer to the event. Pollo Tropical and Davoli’s Specialty Food and Catering Inc. will provide food for the stop. The Chamber is offering free parking during the art walk.

Produced by Downtown Vision Inc., First Wednesday Art Walk is a free, self-guided tour of visual and live art. Held each month from 5 to 9 p.m., rain or shine, the art walk spans a 15-block radius within the Downtown core. With 30 to 40 galleries, museums, cultural venues, restaurants, bars and businesses participating each month and dozens of artists in the open air Hemming Plaza, the art walk is the ultimate opportunity to savor and support Jacksonville’s deep pool of creative talent.
