NAIOP’s Nov. 4 luncheon to feature Herschel Vinyard

NAIOP of Northeast Florida, the region’s commercial real estate authority and trade association, announces it will host a luncheon on Friday, Nov. 4, featuring guest speaker Herschel Vinyard, Secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. The event will start at 11:30 a.m. at the Omni Downtown and is open to the public. Tickets are $25 for NAIOP members and $40 for non-members.

“Secretary Vinyard will be providing an overview of his vision for the Department of Environmental Protection as well as highlighting his priorities for the agency,” said Karl Hanson, 2011 Chapter President for NAIOP of Northeast Florida and Vice President of Asset Management Services at Flagler. “We look forward to his insight on how the commercial real estate industry will be affected by the department’s vision and priorities.”

As Florida’s new Secretary of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Vinyard is focused on protecting the state’s natural resources while creating the best possible mechanisms for job creation. His top priorities include establishing permitting efficiencies, consolidating water policies to create a more effective, consistent development and management strategy, and maintaining the state’s legacy of an award-winning park system.

Prior to joining the Department of Environmental Protection, Vinyard was the director of business operations at BAE Systems Southeast Shipyards, the world’s second largest defense contractor. He also served on the boards of the Jacksonville Port Authority, the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Manufacturers Association of Florida.

Seating at the luncheon is limited, and registration can be completed online at or by calling Carmel Buchanan 904-730-8075.
