Hampton Golf names Henderson head tennis pro

Golf course management and club development company Hampton Golf announces Selva Marina Country Club in Atlantic Beach has hired new head tennis professional, Alex Henderson, to continue the growth of the Selva Marina tennis program.

Henderson, a United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA)-certified pro, was previously at Florida Yacht Club where he coached players of all ages and levels, including nationally ranked juniors. In his new role, Henderson will launch new tennis programs, including a junior program with unique teaching methods, and work to engage new players in the game.

“We are very pleased to welcome Alex to our team at Selva Marina,” said M.G. Orender, president and CEO of Hampton Golf and former president of the PGA of America. Hampton Golf currently manages 18 courses and clubs throughout the Southeast. “One of his particular focus areas and strengths is bringing new players into the game through the USTA 10-and-under Quick Start program. Our members will benefit greatly from his knowledge and expertise of the game.”

Henderson is a graduate of Stanton College Preparatory School and Furman University. In September 2011, he competed as part of Florida’s 5.0 USTA Section Championship team at the national tournament in Indian Wells near Palm Springs, Calif. The team ranked fourth, with Henderson winning all three of his singles matches. Henderson also won back-to-back Jacksonville City Championships in 2011 and 2010 with partners Joe Rainey and Louis Ballantyne, respectively.

“I have many happy memories associated with matches and tournaments at Selva Marina, so it is fitting that I return here to continue my career as a tennis professional,” said Henderson. “I look forward to helping the members develop and perfect their tennis game through my own passion and enjoyment of the sport.”
