Baptist Health hosts ‘Dessert and Discussion’ Oct. 27

The public is invited to the Hill Breast Center located in the Baptist Outpatient Center in San Marco on Thursday, Oct. 27, at 6 p.m. for “Dessert and Discussion,” an evening of assorted catered treats and great information about breast health.

Topics by Baptist Health physicians and staff will include breast cancer prevention, early detection, surgery options, reconstruction, lymphedema (swelling following lymph node removal during surgery) and nutrition. Speakers include:

•Medical oncologist Troy Guthrie, MD, who will discuss breast cancer prevention;

•Radiologist/mammographer Christine Granfield, MD, who will discuss early detection and surveillance;

•Surgical oncologist Gary Bowers, MD, who will discuss options for breast cancer surgery;

•Plastic and reconstructive surgeon Ankit Desai, MD, who will discuss reconstructive plastic surgery;

•Physical therapist Debbie Headley, PT, DPT, OCS, and occupational therapist Michael Montemeyer, OTR/L, CLT, who will discuss management of lymphedema (swelling) following breast cancer surgery; and

•Clinical dietitian Tina Reynolds, MS, RD, CDE, who will discuss nutrition.

Each presentation will last 20 minutes, including time for questions and answers.
