Fleet Landing earns five-star rating

Fleet Landing, a fully accredited Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Atlantic Beach, recently received a five-star rating in the Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) 2011 Florida Nursing Home Guide.

AHCA, which oversees Florida’s Medicaid program and licensure of the state’s health care facilities, created the Nursing Home Guide and its five-star performance measurement system to provide consumers with information necessary to make informed health care decisions. This is the fifth consecutive year Fleet Landing’s skilled nursing care center has received the esteemed five-star rating, meaning the facility is ranked in the top 20% of nursing homes in its region.

“Similar to a five-star luxury hotel, Fleet Landing’s skilled nursing care center is considered to be among the best nursing homes in the state of Florida,” said Senior Director of Health Care Services Elizabeth Sholar. “Our five-star rating is a testament to the outstanding quality of care our compassionate and experienced staff provides to the residents at Fleet Landing,”

For the Florida Nursing Home Guide, nursing homes are grouped by region and given a rating between one and five stars with five stars being the best. Fleet Landing is located in the Northeast Florida region, which includes Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, St. Johns and Volusia counties. The rating is based on overall inspections, quality of care, quality of life and administration.

The guide, which is available in print and online, provides an overview of the nursing home and inspection details. The guide also contains a watch list for bankrupt or conditional status facilities. Consumers can link to the nursing home facility from the online publication.

“The Florida Nursing Home Guide offers a comparative value for nursing home facilities that consumers may use when visiting a nursing home and determining if a facility is right for their loved one,” Sholar said. “The guide provides important information to help consumers make an informed decision.”
