Haskell and Big Brothers Big Sisters launch mentoring partnership

Haskell, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida and Andrew Jackson High School will launch “Beyond School Walls” at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 12 at the Haskell building on Riverside Avenue.

Beyond School Walls is a three-year workplace mentoring partnership that will pair 53 Haskell employees with 53 students for one-to-one mentoring. The mentoring partnership will take place bi-weekly throughout the school year. The students will be transported to the Haskell Riverside office to eat lunch with their mentors and talk about school and career goals.

Expected to attend the launch is Steve Halverson, CEO of Haskell; Mayor Alvin Brown; Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals; School Board Chairman W.C. Gentry; Andrew Jackson High School Principal Iranetta Wright; Big Brothers Big Sisters CEO Warren Grymes; and Paul Tyler, Big Brothers Big Sisters board chair and president of Haskell’s Commercial Group.
