8th annual Art in the Park Oct. 8

The City of Jacksonville’s Department of Recreation and Community Services and JaxParks will host the eighth annual Art in the Park, an interactive art and multicultural entertainment event, on Saturday, Oct. 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Northbank Riverwalk, between The Jacksonville Landing and CSX Transportation.

This free and open to the public event provides an opportunity for residents to participate in a variety of hands-on art activities and experience a mix of cultural and interactive entertainment.

Participants will have the opportunity to express their creative sides with mask-making, painting, drawing, sidewalk chalk art, musical instruments, make-and-take arts and crafts and more.

Attendees will also experience a bevy of entertainment and performances by Grupo Bantu Beira Mar – Brazilian Martial Arts and Dance, Steve Alvarado’s Drum Circle, Zumbajear dance aerobics, the Jacksonville Axe Maidens and more.

Event partners include the Museum of Science and History, The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens, The Jacksonville Landing, the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts and its Instrument Zoo, the Jacksonville Public Library, the Jacksonville University Glass Blowers and the Cathedral Arts Project.
