Pendarvis named program manager for Monique Burr Foundation

The Monique Burr Foundation for Children, Inc. announces it has hired Stacy Pendarvis as programmanager for North Florida. Pendarvis will help carry out the organization’s mission to make a positive impact on the community, create change in the lives of families lives and give hope in the life of a child by providing safety and child abuse prevention education to all elementary school children in the state of Florida by 2015.

She will also manage the Monique Burr Foundation “Speak Up Be Safe! Florida” blog, which provides current, professional and research-backed information regarding child Internet safety, bullying and child abuse prevention.

“We are very fortunate to have Stacy at the Monique Burr Foundation for Children,” said Lynn Layton, executive director. “Her passion for helping children is matched by her vast knowledge and expertise in child abuse prevention.”

Pendarvis holds master’s degrees in social work and academic psychology from East Carolina University and has more than 15 years’ experience working for a variety of agencies in child and family services and child abuse prevention. To date, she has trained thousands of adults and children on various child protection topics, helped numerous communities begin their own prevention initiatives and presented at meetings, events and local and state conferences in the southeastern United States.

“I am excited to be joining an organization that has worked diligently to develop a comprehensive and research-based curriculum addressing internet safety, bullying and child abuse prevention, all critical needs facing children and society today,” said Pendarvis. “I look forward to being a part of this effort and making such a significant impact in the lives of Florida’s children!”
