Renaissance hosting fundraiser Aug. 20 and 21

The Renaissance World Golf Village Resort and Convention Center in St.Augustine will host “Carnival For A Cause,” a benefit for Palin Rose Meyer, on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for Palin, who was born on Feb. 28, 2011, and is afflicted with a very rare condition called Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS), which affects appetite, growth, metabolism, cognitive function and behavior.

The “Carnival For A Cause” event will feature a dinner under the direction of the resort’s Executive Chef Brett Smith, fun carnival games, festive carnival décor, face-painting, a silent auction, a DJ, raffles, and prizes. Tickets cost $25 per adult, $8 per child ages 4-12, and free for children age 3 and under. Sponsorship opportunities are available, and the coordinators are seeking donated items for the silent auction.

The Renaissance World Golf Village Resort also will host a golf tournament fundraiser for Palin on its Slammer & Squire championship golf course on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2011, beginning at 3 p.m. The golf tournament, which is $69 per person, also will include contests for Longest Drive, Straight Drive, and Closest to the Pin.

In addition, The Renaissance World Golf Village Resort is offering a special room rate of just $79 per room for the evening of August 20, 2011, for those attending the event, if you reserve before August 10, 2011. Call 1-800-266-9432, and ask for the “Carnival For A Cause” rate.
