Sisters Creek Marina to receive Clean Marina designation

Jacksonville City Councilmember Ray Holt and the City of Jacksonville’s Department of Recreation and Community Services (JaxParks) will host a celebration at Sisters Creek Marina to honor its recent designation as a Clean Marina by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at 3 p.m. The event, held in conjunction with the Greater Jacksonville Kingfish Tournament, will take place at the Jim King Boat Ramp and Park at Sisters Creek Marina located at 8203 Heckscher Drive, 32226, and will also include a ribbon cutting for two newly installed amenities.

The FDEP Clean Marina designation makes Sisters Creek Marina the 244th designated marina in the State of Florida and the 13th in Duval County.

Also, the City of Jacksonville recently installed a pump-out station that allows boaters the ability to safely discharge waste without harming the environment and a BaitTank cigarette receptacle for cigarette butts. These amenities will assist in improving the quality of the waterway and the atmosphere of the marina by minimizing waste and pollution.
