Nippers Beach Grille grand opening July 27

Nippers Beach Grille ( will hold its official grandopening party as a gala fundraiser for the Hook the Future Foundation, a local organization that helps kids learn life lessons through the sport of fishing, on Wednesday, July 27 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Nippers Beach Grille on the Intracoastal waterway at Beach Marine in Jacksonville Beach. Titled “From Surf to Turf, An Evening with Chef Kenny and Friends,” organizers hope this to be the culinary event of the year.

The event will feature six local and national celebrity chefs, all friends of Nippers’ Executive Chef and alumnus of the hit Bravo Network series, Top Chef, Kenny Gilbert. Staffing their own separate food stations spread throughout the island-themed restaurant, each of the celebrity chefs will prepare one of their own signature dishes or a dish from the Nipper’s menu. Included so far on the roster of Kenny’s friends are Top Chef Alumni, Arnold Myint; Erika Davis of Top Chef Just Desserts season one; Executive Chef of One Ocean, Ted Peters; and Tom Gray, owner and Executive Chef of Jacksonville’s Bistro Aix; David Medure, executive chef at Restaurant Medure of Ponte Vedra Beach; and Kenny Gilbert.

Said Nippers Managing Partner, Rudy Theale, “We have created an event that celebrates our core beliefs—providing relaxation in an authentic island atmosphere, creating mind-blowing cuisine and giving back to the local community—into what we feel will be the culinary adventure of the year.” He continued, “We are excited to invite the community to participate in this event and to raise money for HTF. It’s a great organization and we are thrilled with our relationship.”

The day will begin with children supported by HTF being treated to a day of deep-sea fishing, where they will board the sport fishing boat, The Lil’ Nipper, at 5:00 a.m. They’ll return in the early afternoon where they will unload their catch of the day and Chef Kenny and his friends will then use the fish caught by the HTF kids to create some of the evening’s dishes.

This special evening will be hosted by guest-emcee, Nikki Kimbleton of WJXT-TV4, who will also present the live auction.

Tickets for the event are $100 per person and include all one can eat and drink, live music by the 418 Calypso Band, access to the live and silent auctions, and a host of other surprises. Each guest will also be given an Island-themed gift bag filled with interesting and fun items.
