Bowman joins BAE Systems Southeast Shipyards

Aaron Bowman, the former commanding officer for Mayport Naval Station, has been selected as the director of business operations for BAE Systems Southeast Shipyards.

Bowman was recently selected to the position vacated by Herschel Vinyard, who was appointed to Florida Secretary of Department of Environmental Protection by Governor Rick Scott.

Bowman, who has a 28-year naval career, will assume responsibilities that include serving as media relations director, ethics officer, community engagement involvement and overseeing local and state interests regarding laws and regulations for the BAE facilities on Hecksher Drive, Mayport, and Mobile, Alabama.

Prior to joining BAE, Captain Bowman retired as commander of the Mayport Naval Station. He also served as executive officer of the base.

A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Bowman served as a carrier pilot based at Cecil Field, and in Navy acquisition working in research, testing, logistics and aircraft weapon systems in Maryland. While in the service, he earned an MBA at Emery Riddle.
