Local business people on MaliVai Washington board

A number of local business people have been elected to the board of directors of the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation ( They include:

• Mac Auguste, Rayonier;

• Penny Ellison, Ellison Vein Institute;

• Holly Howanitz, Wicker, Smith, O’Hara, McCoy & Ford, P.A.;

• Liz Reiman, Watson Realty Corp.; and

• Sabrina Stargill, Duval County Public Schools.

The new executive committee includes Mali Vai Washington, founder; Doug Anderson, PARC management, chair; Adam Meinron, Raymond James, immediate past chair; Dave Fellows, Vistakon, vice chair; Anne Joseph, treasurer; Laurie Allen, Citi, at-large; and Sherry Murray, at large.

The mission of the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation is to develop champions in classrooms, on tennis courts, and throughout communities. Its core program, TnT (tennis and tutoring) serves more than 180 children daily in grades K through 12 and focuses on academic assistance, life skills classes, and tennis instruction.

The foundation recently awarded 18 students college scholarships, totaling $60,000.  Individual scholarships ranged from $1,000 to $8,000.
