Small biz Advocate of the Year deadline June 24

The June 24 deadline for NSBA’s 2011 Lewis I. Shattuck Small Business Advocate of the Year Award is approaching. All candidates must have their completed nomination packet sent to the NSBA office no later than June 24. This award recognizes small-business owners who go above and beyond in advocating for the small-business community.

NSBA—National Small Business Association,— will choose five finalists and one award winner to recognize in September in conjunction with the Washington Presentation, Sept. 14 and 15. Qualifications include: a demonstrated commitment to small-business advocacy above and beyond policies that specifically impact their own business or industry; a proven history of volunteer efforts to advance and improve the overall small-business community; success in advocating for pro-small business policies; and success and growth as a small-business owner.

Unlike many awards, this nomination process is relatively easy and shouldn’t take more than two to three hours to complete. Additionally the award winner and finalists are all the subject of a good deal of media coverage surrounding the award
