Community First gives $1K grant to after-school program

The Chet’s Creek Academic Resource Center (ARC) at Portside, is a grant recipient in the $1000 “Investing In You” contest from Community FirstCredit Union of Florida.

ARC is a community-supported, volunteer-run after school program for more than 200 at-risk children in the 1,000-home Portside community. The one-year-old center also provides tutoring and educational enrichment for Portside residents of all ages.

ARC is the third winner in the $1,000 “Investing In You” contest from Community First. It will use the grant to pay for new books and technology equipment for the children.

Individuals who have an idea that can improve things in your community have three more chances to win. Visit to submit ideas. Ideas are selected based on their impact, timeliness, longevity, and community support via “likes” on facebook.
