Jacksonville Bar Association (JBA). Freed will be sworn in June 15 by Fourth Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Donald Moran.

Jacksonville mayor-elect Alvin Brown is scheduled to speak at the ceremony, which will take place at noon at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront located at 225 E Coastline Drive.

“Having practiced in Washington D.C., South Florida and other jurisdictions, I genuinely appreciate how good we have it in northeast Florida,” said Freed. “Our bar is known throughout the state and beyond as one of the most professional, ethical and capable. I look forward to doing all that I can to maintain and build on the association’s exemplary reputation.”

One of Freed’s priorities is to increase mentorship within the Jacksonville legal community, pairing young lawyers with experienced ones to help guide them. In addition, he’ll build on the JBA’s tradition of philanthropy, charitable work and pro bono legal services for those in need.

Freed has previously served as president of the Jacksonville Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and has been a member of the JBA Board of Governors since 2002.
