Smith Hulsey & Busey hires 2 associates

Jacksonville law firm Smith Hulsey & Busey ( has hired two associates, Mary M. Calcote and Daniel A. Stocker. Calcote, a fifth-year associate, joins the firm’s corporate practice; Stocker, a first-year associate, joins the litigation practice.

Mary Calcote

Calcote’s corporate practice with Smith Hulsey & Busey will focus on mergers and acquisitions, contract preparation, entity structuring, taxation and general business matters. She will work with firm shareholders M. Richard Lewis, Jr. and Stephen D. Moore, Jr.

Calcote has five years of experience in tax analysis, corporate law and litigation. Following completion of her Juris Doctor degree from Florida State University, where she graduated cum laude, Calcote earned a Masters of Laws in Taxation at the University of Florida. She also received her bachelor’s degree in criminology from the University of Florida.

Dan Stocker

Stocker’s litigation practice will include representation of commercial lenders in state court proceedings and bankruptcy court. He will work with firm shareholder Michael E. Demont. In addition to his legal education, Stocker has financial advisory experience through working with global professional services firm PricewaterhouseCoopers. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida and his bachelor’s degree in finance from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich.
