Cornerstone promotes NE Florida in Atlanta

More than 15 members of the Cornerstone Regional Development Partnership, the economic development arm of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce, recently traveled to Atlanta for a two-day economic development mission to promote Northeast Florida’s economic strengths and business opportunities.

Cornerstone Chair Scott Keith and Mayor John Peyton led the mission that brought together Northeast Florida business and elected leaders as well as economic development partners.  According to Keith, the trip’s purpose was to build relationships with an important group of Atlanta area corporate executives, site consultants, and commercial and industrial real estate brokers, and to market business development opportunities in the Northeast Florida region.  This trip is expected to create business opportunities that lead to future job growth, business relocations or expansions.

“It is critical to make sure business leaders outside of our region are aware of the benefits and opportunities available in Northeast Florida’s business community,” Keith  said.  “Our region offers an outstanding quality of life and dynamic business opportunities that are extremely attractive to corporations and business owners.”

Florida leads the nation in the state’s potential to grow jobs, according to a new Wells Fargo report, and the city of Jacksonville ranks in the Top 15 of Area Development magazine’s most attractive metropolitan regions for business.  The magazine recognized the city for its business-friendly environment and consistent job growth.

During the two-day trip, the Cornerstone delegation participated in small group meetings with Atlanta site location consultants.  They also attended a reception at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, where they met with site consultants, corporate real estate executives, and representatives from companies with targeted industries.  Trips like this allow Cornerstone to promote Northeast Florida as a business destination to other business leaders.

“Our region offers a pro-business environment and a highly skilled workforce, which appeals to forward-thinking companies,” Mallot said.  “We are recognized as one of the nation’s top business communities because we provide a quality environment companies thrive in.  For businesses and companies looking to expand or relocate, we want our region to be top-of-mind.”

Cornerstone is a regional economic development partnership comprised of 200 top private sector investors in Northeast Florida in partnership with the Jacksonville

Regional Chamber of Commerce, JEDC, JEA, JAXPORT, JAA, JTA, WorkSource and the regional county partners – Baker, Clay, Duval, Flagler, Nassau, Putnam and St. Johns counties.  www.ExpandinJax.com.
