FCMA golf tourney raises scholarship money

The First Coast Manufacturers Association (FCMA) ran its 21st annual golf tournament to fund engineering scholarships to the University of North Florida (UNF) April 15.Approximately 100 golfers participated in the event held at the St. Johns Golf & Country Club and more than 50 area companies were represented.

“The proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards paying for engineering scholarships each year, in addition to building our college endowment program,” said Lad Daniels, FCMA president.

“As manufacturers, we want to support our students in Northeast Florida to take advantage of the educational opportunities, right here in Jacksonville and particularly in the science, mathematics and chemistry fields,” Daniels explained. “By offering scholarships and tying them to the outstanding engineering program at UNF, we hope to develop local talent for our area manufacturers.”

Winners of the tournament were Southland Waste (first place), University of North Florida (second place), and Swisher International (third place).
