Conductor to teach leadership concepts through music

19 at 2 p.m., Roger Nierenberg, who served as music director of the Jacksonville Symphony from 1983 to 1999, will offer “The Music Paradigm,” an experiential learning event that uses a live orchestra to teach leadership insights.

Originally conceived in 1995 by Nierenberg in an effort to deepen the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra’s connection with the community and reach a wider and more diverse audience, The Music Paradigm has become a groundbreaking leadership program provided to Fortune 100 companies and many other leading organizations around the globe. Nierenberg’s book Maestro (Penguin Publishing), based on The Music Paradigm experience, was named “Best Leadership” book of 2009.

The May 18 event is aimed toward corporate executives, nonprofit administrators, business owners, and entrepreneurs. The May 19 event is for university students and faculty and those new to leadership roles.

Sessions take place at the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts, on the Jacoby Symphony Hall stage.
