March for Babies set for Saturday

Thousands of people are expected at the Riverbank behind the Times-Union Center to take part in March for Babies on Saturday, May 7. In addition to the 3-mile walk, other festivities include breakfast from Dunkin’ Donuts and McDonald’s, the Kid’s Zone with bounce houses and My Gym demonstrations, an appearance from 501st StormTroopers, the Wells Fargo Stage Coach, and live music from DJ Tony “Magic” Mann.

The First Coast March for Babies brings together families, companies and volunteers all raising money to ensure that one day, all babies are born healthy. A minimum donation of $10 is requested.  T-shirts will be awarded to those individuals who raise $200 or more.

Registration starts at 8 a.m.; the walk begins at 9 a.m.

Pearl and Hogan Streets will be closed from Water St. to the river from 5 p.m. May 6 until 2 p.m. May 7. Streets along the route will be closed with police escorts between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
