St. Augustine Humane Society adds Spay Shuttle schedules

The St. Augustine Humane Society is offering more Spay Shuttle schedules and pricing discounts for spaying and neutering cats during the current kitten season. According to Carolyn Smith, St. Augustine Humane Society’s interim operations director, a record number of unwanted kittens are being born in the local area.

In addition to the regular Spay Shuttle on the third Thursday of each month, the Humane Society will also be running a cats only shuttle on the second Friday of each month during the summer.  The shuttle transports cats to the First Coast No More Homeless Pets clinic in Jacksonville. St. Augustine Humane Society is located at 1665 Old Moultrie Rd. in St. Augustine.

The next shuttle date is Friday, May 13 with check-in from 7:30 a.m. until 8 a.m. Cats are returned to the Humane Society on the same day at approximately 8p.m.  The low-cost surgery for pet cats is $50; surgery for feral cats is $30 per cat.  Ferals must be delivered in humane traps, which may be borrowed from the Humane Society’s trap depot and includes a $50 refundable deposit. Additionally, whole litters of kittens will be given surgery for $50 per litter, up to 4 kittens.  Additional kittens from the same litter are spayed and neutered for $10 each.

Space is limited. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. For more information, call 904.829.2737 or email Visit the website at
