St. Augustine Humane Society elects new officers

St. Augustine Humane Society has approved a 2011 slate of officers and the addition of several new board members including an interim operations director.

Karen Lee Hogan was elected president; Julie Kurtz will serve as vice president; Cathy Upchurch will serve as secretary, and Dr. Ron Dixon will serve as treasurer. Also, the board’s former vice president Carolyn Smith has been named as interim operations director.

New board members include Katherine Batenhorst, Bonnie Hayflick, James Pennington, and Leslie Sinclair. Dr. Eric Searcy, the former board president will remain with the organization as a board member and advisor.

“We are pleased to announce our slate of officers and board members to serve two-year terms,” said Karen Lee Hogan. “The new leadership will help the community with crucial animal care issues including low cost spay and neuter programs, adoption and re-homing, and dog training along with a variety of resource and educational programs,” she said.
