Community First to award $6,000 for community-improvement ideas

Community First Credit Union is inviting Facebook users to submit ideas that positively impact the city. For the next 90 days the credit union will award six $1,000 grants to the most popular ideas posted on the Community First Facebook page ( ).

The Facebook page is a hub for people to submit, share, and vote on ideas that make things better in the community. The contest began April 20 and runs through July 20. Individuals can apply for grants to benefit a variety of projects.

Community First will fund projects that make a difference in six categories: Health, Arts & Culture, Food & Shelter, Environment, Neighborhoods and Education.  The more “likes” from Facebook audiences the more likely that idea will be chosen. The ideas that receive the top votes and  those selected as winners will be announced every two weeks starting May 4, 2011.
