Second Metro Diner nears completion

The second Metro Diner location at the Shops of Julington Creek in Mandarin is nearing completion and is scheduled to open in April according to the restaurant’s architect, Fisher Koppenhafer Architecture and Interior Design.

“The Metro Diner in San Marco has been one of Jacksonville’s favorite restaurants for nearly 20 years,” said Mike Koppenhafer, AIA and president of Fisher Koppenhafer Architecture and Interior Design.  “The new location replicates the diner’s cozy setting and will be a popular addition to the Shops at Julington Creek.”

The new Metro Diner in Mandarin has been designed with intimate booths, pendant lighting and comfortable patio seating similar to the Hendricks Avenue location, which opened as a dining establishment in 1938 and became home to the Metro Diner in 1992.

The Metro Diner is currently accepting April and May advertising for its Mandarin restaurant placemats.  Placemat advertising has brought increased visibility and exposure to many local businesses for years at the Metro Diner’s San Marco location.

The Shops at Julington Creek is located at the intersection of San Jose Boulevard and Julington Creek Road.  The contemporary, one-story 41,000-square-foot retail center contains a 21,000-square-foot The Fresh Market grocery store.  The shopping center was also designed by Fisher Koppenhafer Architecture and Interior Design.
