WBO announces 2011 WIB award winners

Women Business Owners of North Florida hosted the 25th Annual Women In Business (WIB) Awards luncheon March 21 at the Hyatt Regency Riverfront Hotel. Awards were presented to four women in business to celebrate their excellence.

Winners were:

• 2011 Entrepreneur of the Year: Cynthia Montello, The Montello Agency.

Montello is an advertising and marketing professional with 30 years of active experience in this field.  She is the president of The Montello Agency, one

of North Floridas largest and most respected advertising, marketing and public relations firms.  Her team has won numerous awards for marketing and design excellence.  Cynthia has been honored for her service to women, to her community, and for lifetime career achievements in marketing and humanitarian efforts.  She serves on several boards and dedicates her time in ministry to strengthening women who are homeless, abused, or addicted.  The Montello Agency represents a number of non-profit organizations and helps them through their Share the Love program with pro bono or deeply discounted printing, design, marketing, PR, and events.

• 2011 Franchisee of the Year: Grace Huxtable-Mount, owner and business manager of The Learning Experience Child Development Center.

Grace Huxtable-Mount

Huxtable-Mount is a former elementary teacher. In 2005, Grace started Huxtable Education Group (HEG), a company which provides supplemental educational services. Her success with HEG allowed her to open TLE in 2009. In less than two years, she has grown TLE from an unknown in the Jacksonville market to a premier child care facility with more than 150 students. Huxtable-Mount anticipates completing her PhD in Educational Leadership this year and hopes to open a second TLE franchise in the near future.

• 2011 Corporate Leader of the Year: Candace Moody, vice president of communications, WorkSource, the regional workforce organization.  Moody directs operations and corporate outreach strategy for the six-county region in

Northeast Florida. With more than 15 years of experience in human resources, training, recruiting, and assessment, she is frequently quoted in the Jacksonville media on labor market issues. She is also actively engaged with economic development, working with companies considering expansion or relocation in Jacksonville. She was awarded an M.B.A. from Jacksonville University in 2001.

• 2011 Pioneer of the Year: Gwen Griggs, PARC Management, LLC.

Gwen Griggs

Griggs joined PARC Management in 2008 and currently serves as chief strategy officer and general counsel leading strategic and business initiatives. During her tenure at PARC, she has guided the legal team through dozens of transactions including the acquisitions and sale of dozens of properties.  Prior to this, she practiced corporate law in Jacksonville for 14 years and owned her own law firm for six. Griggs founded the Jacksonville Business Women’s Business Center and is the Founding Co-Chair of GrowJax.
