4 women feted as Women’s History Month honorees

Four local women who have made outstanding contributions to the Jacksonville community have been selected for recognition by the Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women as 2011 Women’s History Month honorees. These women epitomize this year’s theme, Women Making History Today.

The honorees are:

• Debbie Buckland, executive vice president and Line of Business manager, SunTrust Bank;

Barbara Harrell, immediate past president, Women’s Giving Alliance;

• Keri Kidder, senior business analyst/vice president, Citi – Communications Chair for the Citi Pride Network and a member of the Citi Women’s Network; and

• Dr. Shahla Masood, professor and chair, Department of Pathology for University of Florida’s College of Medicine, Jacksonville; medical director, Shands Jacksonville Breast Health Center; chief of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Shands Jacksonville

The Commission, in partnership with the Thomas G. Carpenter Library at University of North Florida, will host a reception in honor of the recipients, on March 15, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the University of North Florida.

The reception will be at the Thomas G. Carpenter Library, 1 UNF Drive.

Each of this year’s honorees will be featured on a specially designed commemorative poster, which will be unveiled at the reception. The poster will then be placed in the UNF Thomas G. Carpenter Library where the permanent collection of commemorative posters is exhibited. The poster honorees were selected from nominations received from individuals, women’s organizations, agencies and businesses.
