SBA seeks Emerging 200 participants

The Small Business Administration (SBA) is seeking 15 Jacksonville firms to participate in the SBA Emerging 200 program. Interested small businessowners should contact Kenneth R. Hamilton, SBA assistant district director and Jacksonville e200 program manager.

The SBA e200 program is designed to identify 200 inner-city businesses across the country that show a high potential for growth and to provide them the network, resources, and motivation require to build a sustainable business of size and scale within a designated inner-city geogrpahic location.

E200 training is designed to stimulate and support business expansion. Participants must commit to 13 weeks of training, beginning April 11, that will cover:

• Developing growth strategies and objectives,

• Exploring financing options, both debt and equity,

• Identifying new markets, including export opportunities,

• Understanding and evaluating opportunities in government contracting, • Expanding peer-to-peer and community resource networking.

To qualify, participants must:

• Be established for at least three years;

• Have annual revenue between $400,000 and $10 million per year; and

• Have at least one employee in addition to the CEO.

Only key decision makers (such as the owner or president) of qualified businesses can attend the classes.
