Energy tour set for Thursday; businesses welcome

Business people, city, county, and municipal employees and elected officials, regional planning councils, and renewable energy supporters and advocates will join together on Feb. 24 for the Florida Alliance for Renewable Energy (FARE) Tour. The tour will travel through 10 cities across the state, to reach an audience of more than 2,000 individuals and businesses.

The tour will feature discussion of renewable energy legislation to be introduced in the 2011 legislative session. The event will be in a town-hall format, with a discussion on job creation and local economic growth through renewable energy development and a Q&A session from industry experts and state legislators.

The agenda for Thursday’s event includes:

  • 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Site visit— JEA Conservation Center, 970 North Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202
  • 10:15 am – 11:15 Site visit— Sunworks Solar Headquarters, 5191 Shawland Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32254
  • 11:45 a.m. – 1:00 Site visit—TBA
  • 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 Site visit —First LEED Platinum home in Northeast Florida, 5302 Clifton Rd., Jacksonville, FL 32211
  • 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 Site visit— Newly constructed LEED certified Marine Science Research Institute building, Jacksonville University, 2800 University Boulevard North
  • 4:30 p.m. – 5:00 Town Hall Registration
  • 5:00p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Town Hall meeting at Jacksonville University Davis College of Business, 2800 University Boulevard North, Jacksonville, FL 32211
