Chamber names 2011 Small Business Leader of the Year

The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce named Janet Herrick, president and CEO of Onsite Environmental Consulting, its 2011 Small Business Leader of the Year at its 126th Annual Meeting.  Herrick and Onsite Environmental Consulting, which offers numerous industry-leading environmental services and information, were nominated for the award by the Chamber’s West Council.

“I am honored to be named the 2010 Small Business Leader of the Year,” said Herrick, who received the award at the Chamber’s annual meeting, which was held at the Florida Theatre.  “I credit my business success to the support I have received from my team and the Chamber’s outstanding programs dedicated to helping small businesses succeed.”

Herrick incorporated Onsite Environmental Consulting in 2004.  The company offers several types of specialized services to assist with land development including wildlife hazard assessment and management, wetland assessment and delineation, habitat assessment and evaluation, endangered-species sampling and permitting, GPS post-processing, and mitigation assessment, planning and design, among others.  Prior to founding Onsite Environmental Consulting, Herrick founded and managed Global Purchasing Solutions, an international import-sourcing company with offices in Jacksonville and Shanghai, China.  She sold half of the company in 2004 to her business partner in China, where it continues to operate.

“Janet is an outstanding business leader who has achieved great success,” said John Bryan, Director, Beaches Division and Chamber Councils.  “She demonstrates outstanding leadership and has fostered a rewarding atmosphere for her employees.”

Nine business leaders were selected as Small Business Leader of the Year by their Chamber Councils, by the Small Business Center or by the Beaches Division.  Each of these Small Business Leaders then competed to represent the Chamber as the overall Small Business Leader of the year.  The nominees included:
