Leftover convention tote bags? Donate to DCF

Businesses that provide tote bags to convention goers and trade-show attendees often find they have leftovers. And business people who attend trades often find they accumulate tote bags. You can put them to good use by donating them to the Department of Children and Families (DCF).

Kathy Suber is director of Lea’s Place Volunteer Program, in partnership with DCF to provide help to abused, neglected, and abandoned children 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Suber says tote bags are ideal. According to Suber, when volunteers pick up children to relocate them to safe quarters, they need something in which to carry the children’s things. The center does not have room to store suitcases, but tote bags are ideal. It can even use small tote bags, which make good diaper bags.

In addition to tote bags, other goods, such as snack items, baby items, and clothing, as well as monetary donations, are needed. For more information on what you can donate, contact Suber at 904-360-7091 or at Kathy_Suber@dcf.state.fl.us.
