SBDC offers International Trade Certificate

A certificate program in international trade (exporting) will be offered through the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at the University of North Florida. The program begins Jan. 20, 2011, and runs on six consecutive Thursdays through Feb. 24, 2011. The final session will be at JaxPort.

The program introduces companies to every aspect of exporting. It’s designed for small businesses new to international trade as well as growth-oriented businesses that want a better understanding of the opportunities and resources available.

Topics include:

•           Identifying markets: Sources of information

•           Finding partners: Direct vs. indirect exporting

•           Legal issues: Regulations, contracts

•           International marketing strategy: Pricing, promotion

•           Logistics: Freight forwarders, documentation, port operations

•           Financing: Payment methods, credit risk management

•           Cross-cultural communications
