Renovation begun at Mayfair Village

Construction is underway on the redevelopment and restoration of Ability Housing’s Mayfair Village Apartments designed by Fisher Koppenhafer Architecture and Interior Design.  Fisher Koppenhafer is the architect and interior designer for the $5.9 million renovation project.  Ability Housing is a Jacksonville non-profit organization providing quality housing to formerly homeless families and persons with disabilities.

“Ability Housing is conducting a substantial rehabilitation to the property which is more than 60 years old and in need of restoration,” said Mike Koppenhafer, AIA and president of Fisher Koppenhafer Architecture and Interior Design.  “Mayfair Village is being transformed into a modern first-class facility with beautiful surroundings anyone would be proud to call home.”

Built in the 1940s, Mayfair Village is an 83-unit apartment community located on Beach Boulevard in St. Nicholas.  The renovation project will include a new roof, insulation, windows and siding for the apartment buildings, accessible kitchens and baths, a new community clubhouse and laundry facilities.

The community was purchased by Ability Housing in 2007.  Completion of the redevelopment and restoration is expected in early 2011.
