Monique Burr Foundation receives $23K gift

Children’s Safe Passage, a child advocacy organization committed to the prevention of child abuse through education, has presented a $23,000 donation to the Monique Burr Foundation for Children, Inc. The donation will be used to fund the foundation’s education and child abuse prevention programs taught in public and private elementary schools throughout Duval and Clay Counties.

“We are honored that Children’s Safe Passage has selected the foundation to receive this charitable donation and on behalf of our entire staff and the children we serve, we would like to thank them,” said Lynn Layton, executive director of the Monique Burr Foundation for Children, Inc., whose mission is to provide hope in the lives of children through training and education to prevent and reduce the rate of abuse among children.

The funds for the donation were raised at a golf fundraiser hosted by Children’s Safe Passage on Oct. 18 at The Palencia Club in St. Augustine, Fla. A check for $23,000 from the proceeds of the golf fundraiser was presented to Ed Burr, founder of the Monique Burr Foundation for Children, by Children’s Safe Passage founder, Mike Williams, at a recent training session by the foundation for educators in Duval county.
