Fax app available for BlackBerries, iPhone

A free app that gives small businesses the ability to access faxes  is now available for BlackBerry cell phones, as well as for iPhones. The app is made available from MyFax.

“Small business owners rarely leave the office without their smartphone. The ability to access the same quality services they receive in their office is more than a convenience – it’s critical to their success,” said Steve Adams, vice president of marketing for Protus, the provider of MyFax. “The availability of MyFax apps for both the BlackBerry and iPhone are part of our strategy to further expand our offerings across mobile platforms, and provide our customers with the same positive MyFax experience whether they’re in their office or on the road.”

The MyFax application works with existing e-mail accounts, cutting back on printing costs and the space it takes to physically store paperwork. The app allows MyFax customers to receive instant fax receipt notifications, open and view the fax, or access the preview option, which gives mobile workers a quick view of faxes, all without opening additional third party applications. The BlackBerry app is free to download in BlackBerry App World, and the MyFax service required to use it starts at just $10 per month.

MyFax removes the need for a dedicated phone line and fax machine. The service enables users to manage their fax communication and corresponding document management workflow more efficiently and at a lower cost than traditional fax servers or fax machines, regardless of physical location. Earlier this year, MyFax released an iPhone app which is free to download from the Apple App Store.
